Wine Profile
Tasting Notes
The first Sagrantino, the one that brought Giampaolo Tabarrini initial critical acclaim. The grapes come from clayey, silt-rich soil, well exposed to the southeast, guaranteeing perfectly ripened grapes and a powerful yet balanced wine that is refined in big French casks and is marketed no less than four years after harvest. Sagrantino class, dynamism, flavour and depth.
Production Notes
A DOCG classified wine made from 100% Sagrantino grapes. A sharp and intense ruby red colour manifests itself in the dense complexity of this wine and explodes in a myriad of unique and intense perfumes, ranging from blackberries and fine spices, to elegant hints of minerals. In the mouth, the sensation is undoubtedly full bodied, uniting warmth and dynamism in an extremely long finish. Aged 36 months in French oak and at least 12 months in bottle. This is a cellar worthy wine or capable of being enjoyed today with decanting.
Food Pairing Notes
Aged cheeses. Brased meats, fine game like wild boar, free range wild pigeons and larks, pork livers on the spit, stew, lamb, goose meat, spicy red meats, snails stew. Fiorentina beef steaks.
